image35411Mr. Schildhouse is a real estate attorney and executive with over 35 years of experience across the full spectrum of transactional real estate and development, from deal structuring to initial site selection and acquisition, construction and permanent financing, contracting, leasing and general corporate and business-related matters.  Mr. Schildhouse is currently Executive Vice President and General Counsel to the Cleveland-based developer;  The Inspirion Group, LTD., and leads the development on various projects, including retail, multi-family and commercial office.  Prior to his current position he was General Counsel to The K&D Group, the largest privately-held owner-manager of multi-family and mixed use projects in Northeast Ohio, with over 13,000 residential units and over one-half million square feet of office and retail space. In addition to his general corporate responsibilities, Mr. Schildhouse has been directly involved in several major commercial/residential mixed-use development projects valued in excess of $200 million, as well as portfolio transactions and financings exceeding $250 million in the aggregate. He was also responsible for initiating and managing a private placement offering which raised nearly $12.0 million, used to supplement the equity requirements for a $50 million portfolio acquisition.

Prior to K&D, Mr. Schildhouse was a partner in the law firm of Kohrman, Jackson and Krantz, PLL, of Cleveland, Ohio, where he was responsible for organizing and leading its Real Estate Practice Group.  While at KJK, Mr. Schildhouse represented both local and national developers on significant development projects representing over 6 million square feet of new development, as well as numerous real estate and portfolio transactions across the country, valued in excess of several hundred million dollars.

Mr. Schildhouse had also been Associate General Counsel to First Interstate Properties of Beachwood, Ohio, where he played a role in the development of Legacy Village, one of the premier lifestyle retail centers in Northeast Ohio, and the Cedarwood Companies of Akron, Ohio, a national retail developer, where his legal responsibilities included matters related to transactional, retail development, construction, financing and tenant leasing.  Prior to joining Cedarwood, Mr. Schildhouse had been General Counsel to Crown NorthCorp, Inc., a publicly-traded real estate asset management and financial services company based in Columbus, Ohio, where he provided advice and counsel regarding the management and disposition strategies for portfolios of retail, commercial and multi-family assets valued in excess of $4 billion, for clients such as Lehman Brothers, Credit Suisse-First Boston, Bank One Capital Markets and the Resolution Trust Corporation.

Mr. Schildhouse is a 1974 graduate of the University of Cincinnati, with a B.A. in Political Science, and received his Juris Doctorate from Cleveland-Marshall School of Law in 1979.  He was admitted to the Ohio Bar in May, 1980.  A resident of Hudson, Ohio with his wife Margo, he has two adult children, (living in Los Angeles and Columbus respectively).  He is a member of the Ohio Bar Association, the International Counsel of Shopping Centers, and a former board member of the Greater Cleveland Mortgage Bankers Association and the Cleveland Chapter of NAIOP. He is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the Historic Gateway District of Cleveland, and President of Temple Beth Shalom of Hudson, Ohio.
